I love working with energy and know the power of its ability to change conditions. This month I invite you to play with the power of energy yourself by using a simple technique that I learned from a Feng Shui book years ago. This technique will help to uplift and energetically clear your environment and energy fields. It's the infinity symbol, or the figure 8. All you need to do is draw the figure 8 with your hand in the air in the middle of your room, your car, and over you body. When you draw the figure 8 you'll feel subtle, yet profound changes and feelings of lightness. It's so easy to do that you can do throughout the day, every day. Try it and enjoy the way it makes you feel...more peaceful, more connected and more clear.
Continuing the Usui Reiki Principles for a living happy life series, the third Reiki Principle reminds us: Just for today, count your blessings. It's the perfect monthly mantra, especially since we've just exited Mercury Retrograde. For me, this month's retrograde really pushed, pulled and squeezed on every level...until I finally just surrendered to the process. I was reminded of a time when I was 14 years old and boogie boarding in Malibu. As I paddled out, I caught a wave a little too late and immediately wiped out. The wave's undertow took me under with such might keeping me under water that when I finally came up to gasp for air, I was taken under again by yet another wave. This time I was pulled face down to the ocean floor causing me to scrape the side of my face along its sandy bottom. I came to the surface exhausted, only to see my uncle, a few feet away from me, coming in to bring me back to shore. This experience was one of the most intense moments of my life when all I could do was rely on the strength of my body and my lung capacity and simultaneously be flexible enough to go with the flow of the water. If I resisted the power of the ocean I would have fared a lot worse than just being exhausted. When I returned to shore, all I could think of was what could have happened. I remember being so grateful that I was okay and finally safe.
This month I experienced similar intensity, although not life-threatening, during Mercury Retrograde. I simply couldn't anticipate when the tumultuous waves of life were coming...they just arrived. One after the other, in their own rhythm, in their own time. All I could do was keep centered and go with the flow. This was the theme this past month for many others - clients, friends, family and associates. Today, now that things have settled down, I'm DEFINITELY counting my blessings. I was reminded that even though life has its challenges, focusing on what we have and what we're blessed with carries us through the tough times.
Reflecting on the wisdom of this month, I was reminded that tumultuous times bring to the surface what's important and what we need to let go of in life. Even though my profession involves working with the spirit realm and healing energy I'm still a regular human being with lessons to learn and a life to live - I count this as a blessing.
This month, I invite you to take a moment each day to reflect on your blessings: your children, your health, your parents, your animals, your job, your time, your body, having food on the table, the love of your family...everything. When you remember what you already have, you realize that you're already living a blessed and abundant life.
May you receive many blessings today, and in all of your tomorrows.
The second Usui Reiki principle for happiness is, "Just for today, do not anger." Usui believed that anger was often a destructive emotion because it's usually expressed in an explosive manner which simultaneously hurts ourselves and others. Usui believed anger resulted from having expectations about what we think should or should not happen. Choosing to express anger is a conscious choice. Even though you can't choose how you feel, you can choose how you behave. When you feel angry it’s important to be honest with yourself and to express it in a safe, non-destructive way.
Typically there’s a lot of shame associated with feeling angry, but there's no need to feel ashamed because anger is usually a sign that something needs to be addressed. Was a boundary crossed? Did you perceive something differently than the reality of the situation? Were you disappointed by something that you expected, but didn't happen? Learning how to express anger in healthy ways will support your emotional health by creating healthier relationships, including the one with yourself.
Sometimes you just have to go through life Cowabunga! style. Wiktionary says that “cowabunga” was used in the 1950s and 1960s by surfers as a declaration of enthusiasm and delight. Being a California beach gal, I love that!
To celebrate the end of school, graduation, Father's Day, summer vacation, longer days and summer nights, I want to invite you to remember the old adage: the best things in life are free. This month make the effort to nurture your friendships, your romance, children, your health, animals and everything else you love and cherish. Take time to laugh and smile and enjoy yourself. I’m sure you’ve probably heard this many times, but it's important to enjoy the time that you have in this life because you just don’t know how long you have.
This past month our family unexpectedly lost a dear friend. He was happy, fun-loving, always had a kind word to say, made time to chat with everyone, was active, and most important, always had a smile on his face. I always remember him laughing. This man truly enjoyed his life. Not to say he didn't befall on hard times, but he took it in stride and kept a positive outlook. I don't recall him ever being in a bad mood. Sadly, he went to bed one night and didn't wake up the next morning - he was only 42. One day he was here and the next he wasn't. When he was alive he knew that I did mediumship, so the day after he died he visited me and my beloved to offer us comfort about his passing. Even though I saw and heard him in spirit, it didn't take away the sadness of knowing his bright smiling face won't be walking through our gates anymore. We miss him.
One of the greatest gifts of his passing is that he's reminded us to appreciate life now - to simply live for life's sake. Since his death, I make the extra effort to smile more, make my friends and loved ones even more of a priority, and when I'm talking with someone I make sure I'm completely present. I've also allowed the little annoyances in life to be just that - little annoyances that are easily forgotten. His passing reminded us that the best things in life are Free. The only currency required is Time. So this month I invite you to live your life Cowabunga! style.
Being an Usui Reiki Master Teacher I've been blessed with the ability to both practice Reiki as well as teach it to others. It's such a beautiful natural healing modality to work with and its philosophical concepts are truly wise words to live by. Mikao Usui founded the Usui Reiki tradition we enjoy today. He is also the creator of the "secret to happiness" with Reiki principles that he believed were essential to living a happy, spiritual life. Over the next few months I'd like to share Usui's principles for happiness because I think they're great reminders for how to live life. The Reiki principles are:
Just for today, do not worry.
Just for today, do not anger.
Just for today, count your blessings.
Just for today, live honestly.
Just for today, be kind to all living things.
~ Mikao Usui
This month we'll cover the first principle, "Just for today, do not worry." Usui believed that worry is a response to something that we think is going to happen to us in the future, but often doesn't. If you can do something about a situation that you're concerned about, then do it. If not, then "let go and let it flow." Struggling to control a situation just creates a cycle of energy that'll make things worse and destroy your emotional state by creating anxiety. When you experience emotional anxiety your physical body is adversely affected which in the end, causes harm to your entire health. Be mindful to take care of your emotional health today by choosing NOT to worry. When you take care of your emotional health, you're also taking care of your physical health because you're sparing it from physically responding to worry and stress. Be good to yourself today and the remainder of the month by reminding yourself, "just for today, do not to worry."
I’m a huge fan of angels and always have been since I was a little girl. I wasn’t raised to say prayers at bedtime, but I remember when I was around 11 years old I realized that whenever I watched a TV show with a family, the mom always tucked her children in bed and made sure they said their prayers. Being an impressionable young girl, I copied what I saw on TV and began to say prayers when I went to bed. I said the same prayers I’d heard on TV which went something like, “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I shall die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.” When I grew older, I remember thinking to myself how yucky it made me feel to think that I might die before waking up in the morning. So I changed my prayers to, “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. God please protect my family, my friends and…” And I always ended my prayers asking the angels to please protect my house, my grandparents’ house and to protect all of the children and the animals in the world and the environment from all bad things.
Even though I believed in angels then and prayed to them when I was little, it wasn’t until I become a professional intuitive healer that I recognized the full scope and impact the Angelic realm has on the world. We’re so blessed to have been given this life in the first place, and even more blessed by the fact that God gave us angels to help our lives.
Did you know that there’s an Angel tasked for each and every thing you wish to accomplish? There is. If you want to ride your bike fast down a mountain, you can ask your angel to help keep you safe. If you need help finding a friend’s house that you’ve never been to before, you can ask an angel to make sure you get there safely and quickly. And they will.
Many years ago I was listening to Caroline Myss on the radio when she shared a story about a male client of hers who lived a reckless life, flirting with death. She shared the story of his last and final reckless escapade that involved a serious motorcyle accident. Caroline Myss said that it was this motorcyle accident that gave him the wake-up call to change his life. The story goes: late one snowy evening, this man was riding his motorcycle speeding on a windy road, when all of a sudden he lost control on a curve and crashed on the side of the road. After he crashed, he heard a voice say to him “You will take a long time to heal, but you will be fine. But this is the last time.” Caroline Myss shared that this man told her he believed that the voice he heard was that of an angel. It was this one event, a serious motorcycle accident that made him not only believe in angels, but changed his life. I find this story riveting because this man lived a life almost begging fate to take it, but in the end he believed an angel saved him. Apparently his rehabilitation did take a long time, but he healed. He also heeded the angel’s advice in by choosing not to live so recklessly. I love this story because it reminds us how powerful angels are and how they can change your life in an instant. They simply want to love us and the power of their love can change lives for the better.
One of my own personal angel stories occurred when I was in my mid- 30s. I was married at the time, and my husband and I fell upon some hard financial times after I was laid off from work. Since I wasn’t working I worried about our financial stability and how we’d pay our bills. When I voiced my money concerns to a healer friend of mine, she told me, “Oh don’t worry. Just ask the angels to help you. They’re really good at that. They can help your bank accounts by manipulating the numbers. Don’t worry, just ask them.” I listened to her in disbelief, because I couldn’t fathom how an angel, who you can’t even see, could have any influence on bank accounts and money. But I was desperate and had nothing to lose, so I began praying to the angels to help me with my money woes.
To my surprise, for the entire month and a half that I was out of work, my bank account stayed at least a hundred dollars above the amount that I calculated it should be at. Every time I checked it, thinking it would be low enough to cause me worry and concern - it was always higher than I thought. Needless to say, I was in awe and amazed...my friend was right! The angels did help me with money as I was able to buy the necessities we needed as well as pay our bills. Now, this doesn’t mean that you can be careless with your finances and expect the angels to keep your bank account in tact. But, it does mean, that with faith, prayers to the angels and your own due diligence they WILL help you and support you during difficult times. I've only seen one real life angel in my life and let me tell you, I was in complete awe when I realized what I was seeing. It's indescribable. It was such an emotional experience that I shed tears of pure joy. Because I was so humbled by what I was experiencing, it strengthened my faith even more that the Universe has a way of sending Divine examples of love into our lives - all we need to do is pay attention. I want to remind you that if you’re ever feeling lost, alone or like no one cares, I can assure you that your angels love and adore you - ask them for a sign.
April's wisdom is short, sweet and reaffirms the importance of living authentically and Be-ing Who You Are. What does "being your authentic self" mean? It's said so much, it's almost lost its impact. Living authentically means that wherever you are in life, BE there. Even if you're not in the greatest place in life - BE there. If you're not feeling like you're best self - BE there. This month I invite you to be authentically Who You Are no matter what. What is authentic? What is Truth? It's different for everyone, but one thing is for certain - when you encounter Truth you KNOW it. When you see authenticity, you KNOW it. When you hear it, you KNOW it. You feel it - in your bones, your soul, your heart - everywhere within your Be-ing. You just KNOW.
Being your authentic self is about having the courage to be exactly Who You Are as you are. It's giving yourself permission to fumble through life sometimes and to move forward despite of those fumbles. It's giving yourself permission not to be perfect. It's giving yourself permission to make mistakes. The more authentic you live your life the more you learn about Who You Are. Throughout the day you're making choices, one right after the other. You choose to go to work, or not. You choose to get up in the morning, or not. You choose to say good morning to those around you, or not. You choose to get into your car and drive to work, or not. You choose to have coffee in the morning, or not. When you consider how many choices you make within the few hours since waking up, you begin to realize how powerful you are at each moment throughout the day, every day. Whenever you CHOOSE to do something, the choice is YOURS.
The more authentic you are in your choices, the more empowered you become. You learn what you're made of and what kind of character you have. The more authentic you are, the less resistant you are to change. When you realize that it's time to change something in your life, you change it. When you live authentically, you learn what you value in life. You become more courageous. You understand that even though some choices sometimes have unintended consequences, you accept it and move forward; because you know you were acting within your own integrity at the time. Being your authentic self and living authentically is about being accountable for your choices in life. You'll find that when you allow yourself to Be Who You Are you're actually happier, more relaxed and feel more connected to others and the world around you. When you live authentically you realize that you're actually living a fuller, more engaged, more complete life because you're fully participating. You're not worried about tomorrow, or "what if this, or that," you're literally going with the flow of life. In Eastern philosophy it's called going with the Natural Law. When you live authentically, your resistance to life decreases. And when your resistance to life is reduced, your peacefulness increases. Be-ing your Authentic Self simply grants you permission to BE.
Since beginning my journey with intuitive energy healing years ago, I've had the pleasure of working with many different people. Everyone from the believer in "all things spiritual" to the ones who "don't really understand this stuff, but thought they'd give it a try." There have been those who've tried everything and nothing worked, and had nothing to lose by trying energy healing. And the proverbial Doubting Thomas' who sit before me and say, "I don't really believe in any of this stuff."
I love Doubting Thomas' because I can relate to them. I personally don't take things on face value, I need hard evidence I can sink my teeth into before I'll believe something. I definitely have a "prove it to me" aspect to my personality. Even though working with Doubting Thomas' are challenging, they're one of my favorite types of clients to work with. I respect their skeptical nature and they're inability to believe in something, unless they see it or experience for themselves. But above all else, I just LOVE how Spirit always comes through for them by delivering a personal message or a personal feeling that only they know to be true.
The Biblical story of Doubting Thomas is a shining example of the skeptic who refuses to believe anything without proof. Ralph E. Wilson in 2003 relayed his view of the Doubting Thomas story and wrote how the Apostles proclaimed that they saw Jesus after his resurrection: to which Thomas responded, "I don't believe it. I don't believe a word of it. You're seeing what you want to see. Jesus is dead, I saw him die...and the sooner you accept it the better off you'll be. Give it up! Unless I see the nail marks on his hands and put my hand into his side I will not believe it!"
Years ago I had a client sitting before me who had the following response to my routine question of what he wanted to focus on in his session: "I'm only here because my wife wanted me to come. I don't really believe in this stuff." I graciously let him know that I was sorry, but unfortunately I wouldn't be able to help him and the session would be futile since he was only there because his wife wanted him to be. He vehemently responded, "No, no I'm open-minded. I want to see what she's talking about." So, I suggested that we stop talking and begin the energy healing part of the session and let the energy do what it does.
After his energy healing was complete, he stepped off the table, sat down in the chair, and I proceeded to give him the intuitive impressions that I received during his treatment. I gave him information about his work, his personality, and how to manage his employees at work. Long story short, he walked out believing that there was definitely something to "all this stuff" because as Spirit always does, a specific message came through for him, telling him exactly what he needed to hear, in the exact phraseology that he needed to hear it. I've come to believe that whenever I come across a Doubting Thomas they're searching for a way to connect with something larger than themselves.
No matter what your belief system - Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, agnostic, etc. - I'm absolutely 100% certain that Spirit is around you waiting to engage. All you need to do is allow it to happen. In the Doubting Thomas story, Thomas needed to stick his finger in Jesus' flesh before he'd believe he was resurrected and real. But evidence of Spirit can be as simple as kindness between strangers, hearing a particular song on the radio, or seeing a butterfly across your path. Spirit shows up in many forms. This month I invite you to believe in the perfection of Spirit in your life and notice how Spirit reveals itself to you. Take a moment to see what shows up in your life - and BELIEVE it.
What is the Aura and How Do I Nurture It?
The word aura is of Greek origin meaning "breeze" or "air." Your aura is an electromagnetic field that emanates from your body and interacts with the energy of the Universe. It surrounds each of us and has discernible colors in it. Your Aura can be affected by your emotions, actions, thoughts, experiences and attachments. Your Aura also reflects the evolution of your soul and the state of your health. Your Aura reveals the entire state of You. A trained intuitive can observe the repository of information about you contained in your auric field.
Nurturing Your Aura
An effective way to nurture your aura is to use color. Simply, find a quiet place a few times a week with the intention of clearing and nourishing your aura. Sit or lay somewhere where you'll remain undisturbed for 15-20 minutes. Visualize a beautiful golden color surrounding your entire body extending from your skin to 3 feet away from your body. Next, visualize a beautiful white light extending from your skin to 3 feet away from your body. Then imagine the gold and white colors swirling into each other: cleansing, clearing and nourishing your aura for at least 10 minutes. Near the conclusion of the 15-20 minute period, imagine a beautiful rose pink color surrounding your entire body extending from your skin to 3 feet away from your body. Feel yourself in this beautiful rose pink color for at least 3-5 minutes. Open your eyes and thank the colors for coming to assist you. You should feel refreshed, calm and centered.
This month's intuitive tip teaches you how to simultaneously connect with the Earth and the Spirit realm. One way to do this is with physical meditation. Traditional meditation teaches that we must sit in silence anywhere between 15 minutes to 2 hours to have a good meditation. However, if you're like me, sitting in meditation for an extended period is difficult to do everyday. Instead, I do walking meditation, also known as physical meditation. I'll put on my headset with meditative music and take a long walk and by the time I'm done, I've both grounded my energy with Earth and have connected with the Spirit realm. I'm lucky enough to start every morning with physical meditation. It's simple and easy. Even if you don't have the time to start everyday like this, you can definitely find time to enjoy physical meditation sometime during the week. Try it and see if this form of meditation works for you.
Listening to our hearts is often easier said than done. It's one of those concepts that sounds good, but we're often perplexed by how to do it. It proves to be quite challenging in our busy lifestyles because we have so much on our plates - our jobs, our families, our relationships, our cars, grocery shopping, the needs of our children, the needs of our partner, the needs of our bosses and the list goes on and on. Often by the end of the day we're so overloaded and overstimulated because we've had to make mental decisions all day. This makes it very difficult to drop down into our hearts and to connect with it.
The best way to begin to connect with your heart center is to stop - take a deep breath - and focus on the beat of your own heart. Allow the rhythm of your own heartbeat to guide you into a quiet space until all that you hear, feel and focus on is "thump-thump" "thump-thump." After about one to two minutes of feeling and listening to your own heart beat visualize yourself laying down on a bed of leaves and surrendering to the moment. After a few minutes ask any question that's been on your mind, wait a moment, drop down into your heart and then literally ask your heart what the answer is. The answer should be one that makes you feel a sense of joy and lightness or relief as well as one in which you exhale "Ahhhh."
This technique should help you bridge the gap between your mental center and your heart center.
Remember there are no mistakes when it comes to your soul's mission - success in life only requires that you're fully present in each moment.
I just love Valentine's Day. I love the color red, I love the fact that it's a reason to celebrate love, and I love that we're allowed to give chocolates, flowers and cards as tokens of our affection for those we love. One of my fondest memories as a little girl was making Valentine's day cards to put in my classmates special Valentine's day envelope. I looked forward to cutting the heart shapes, pasting the hearts on the pretty white doilies, and writing my special note to my friends. Even better, was seeing all the smiles and hearing all the laughter as we opened each others Valentine cards. Sharing our kindess and affection was so easy and fun when we were children. Those were happy times.
We can often take love and those we love for granted. Some people can go for days, weeks and even years without sharing their "I love you's" with others. Conversely, some folks can go years without being told that they're loved or appreciated. I think that is so sad. I think that if you love something or someone you should share it as soon as you feel inspired. Although, I happen to be one of those people who loves love and who's a hopeless romantic. I've always worn my heart on my sleeve. It took me a while to realize that not everyone was the same. As I reflect back, I understand why...it's not easy being so sensitive to others and to the world around you. It takes a while to develop an understanding that everyone is different and unique. However, I do know one similarity: EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE wants to be loved. It is said that it's better to love than to be loved...what do you think? I think we need the balance of both. Perhaps that's why there are so many pet owners in our society. Animals love us unconditionally. We love them and they love us back. It's pretty simple. Maybe we should go back to being simple again.
I'm so grateful that I've been given the gift of helping others. Whether it's a health issue, emotional issue, or the loss of a loved one, I'm continually reminded of how important love is. For example, whenever the spirit of a deceased loved one comes through for someone the spirit ALWAYS comes through with a message of Love. It's so beautiful. Sometimes I'm even moved to tears because the love is so pure and so powerful. It's a constant reminder to me how important love is to our everyday lives. Some of the most beautiful messages of love come from the spirits who never met the great-granddaughter, or great-grand-neice sitting before me because they passed away years before they were born. I feel so honored to bring through these messages of love to others because Love really does last forever.
This month don't miss out on an opportunity to share your love with someone. Sharing love is sharing kindness. I remember my US History teacher in college, Mr. Gillmette. Mr. Gillmette was lecturing about some important event in US history and in the midst of his speech he went off track. He began talking about how people aren't kind to each other anymore. People aren't nice to each other anymore. Mr. Gillmette told us that we need to start being kind to each other. I never forgot that. I heard this message almost 26 years ago and I remember it verbatim. I don't remember what historical event he was lecturing about, but I DO remember him telling us to be kind to each other. Now that's a Life Lesson. I'm so grateful to Mr. Gillmette for going off topic and sharing this very important Truth with us during class.
This month I invite you to share that you care by being kinder to others. Give your kindness to a stranger, it'll brighten their day. You have no idea how powerful you are. Your smile, your warm hello, your simple gesture of holding the door for someone are all examples of kindness. Simple acts of kindness show that you care about life and someone other than yourself. There's too much suffering in the world today. Too many people are losing their faith in life. Some people suffer from loneliness and believe that nobody cares about them. Ignite a little spark in their life today by being kind. Let others know that they matter in this world. What a beautiful way to help make the world a better place.
Listen to the little subtle whispers of the world around you. Have you ever noticed that when you're doing the most mundane things such as taking a little walk outside, or driving your car, or doing the dishes you receive your best pieces of intuitive information? You have to go on autopilot and think of no-thing first before your intuitive wisdom can spring forth.
One way to tap into your intuitive self at-will is to simply train your brain NOT to focus so much on the intuitive information you're trying to receive. Intuition requires a relaxed state of being in order to be received. A state of allowing. When you pressure yourself, you're forcing yourself and when you force something you're actually pushing it away from you. A simple and easy way to tap into your intuition is to ask a question and then do something else for at least an hour to two without thinking about the answer. I GUARANTEE you will receive your answer. It may not be the answer you were hoping for, or maybe it will be, but you WILL receive an answer. Try it and see what happens. Spirit wants to talk to you, Spirit wants to connect with you, and spirit longs to talk with you and share it's wisdom with you.
I see this often when I'm working with someone about a particular issue and then all of sudden their departed loved one shows up, or their angel guide shows up, or their spirit guide shows up. They ALWAYS come with love and a special message. The specific messages range from what to cook at the next family dinner, to how to manage their finances and even how to interact other family members. It's such a sweet joy for me to see the look on the person's face and feel the magnitude emotion of how much they've been touched by the spirit of their loved one. Spirit is so powerful, yet so gentle and infinite. If you've ever had any doubt about Spirit's presence I'm here to tell you that Spirit is very real, very present and very much alive. So, back to this month's tip: ask, do something, and then receive. It's that simple.
As we ring in 2014 it's the perfect time to consciously connect with, make our lists, and create our intention of what we'd like to bring into our lives this year. The marking of a new year always brings mixed emotion...we're reminded that life is continually in motion and moving forward...whether we're moving with it or not. Life continues to move forward no matter what. Even though we think we're standing still, the reality is that we're not. We're constantly in motion. The biggest inhibitor to our success is holding ourselves back from the natural motion of life...which is continually progressing and changing. The best way to embrace this motion is to surrender 100% of ourselves in every moment.
Did you know that you're most powerful when 100% of your attention is present in each moment? For example, if you find yourself in the position of having to make a serious decision, you can rest assured that you'll make the best one for IF you're FULLY present in that moment. Which reminds me, you can never make a "bad" decision. Why? The answer is simple: every decision and every choice provides you with an opportunity to learn. Life is a journey of wisdom and enjoyment. The more aligned you are with Who You Are, the more you'll enjoy yourself, life, and garner the wisdom that living a full life has to offer. This doesn't mean your life won't be met with bumps in the road, but it does mean that with each bump you can choose how to respond. Not every unplanned event in your life is catastrophic. By the same token, not every planned moment in your life is stupendous. Life is life, simple as that.
Remember this as you move forward in 2014 and watch in wonder how your life begins to unfold and expand as you live more consciously aware of Who You Are and living present in each moment.
I love the saying "count your blessings." It's such a wonderful phrase to remind you to stop and appreciate what you have. We are so blessed to be in this world. This time of year is such a magical time when people are in a gentler frame of mind and are kinder to each other. Even though it's important to count your blessings, it's more important to enjoy them, and savor them. When we allow ourselves to simply enjoy our blessings we give ourselves and those around us the space to feel blessed with us.
Google's definition of blessing is: "God's favor and protection." I LOVE that definition because it's true. When you feel blessed and feel it in your heart you do feel God's favor and protection and you walk though life in the Truth of that knowing. You're empowered, inspired, cherished, and honored knowing that you're blessed by God. Feel blessed today and allow the blessings you feel to emit out to others so that they'll be reminded that they too are blessed - that they too are in "God's favor and protection." What a beautiful gift to give yourself, your loved ones and to others during these Holy Days.
May you know that you're blessed and always have been.
Tis the season to celebrate pure unconditional love. The kind of love that never wanes or diminishes. The love that just IS and that continues to grow and expand only because we have that love inside of us to give. That's the thing with love, there's no finite capacity for it - the more you give the more you have to give. As we celebrate the holiday season we're blessed to be given the time, sanctioned by our community, to come together with our loved ones so we can celebrate the love we have for each other. Spending time with our loved ones during the holidays allows us to fuel up with the love we need so we can embark upon another new year filled with optimism, hope and enthusiasm. This month’s wisdom reminds us to appreciate what we have and to love what we have. It’s the time of year to appreciate everything you’ve experienced this year as well as everyone who's graced your path for they've significantly contributed to where you're at today...even, if you don't think they have.
Christ = Love. The meaning of Christ actually means Love. I learned that from my Reiki Master Teacher Merle Sunde-Marschall, a very evolved soul who taught me so much about life, wisdom, and Be-ing. She changed my life and I'm profoundly grateful that she graced my path and feel so blessed that she was my first spiritual teacher.
Unconditional love allows you the ability to just be - to simply live in each moment as it unfolds. It requires no planning, no structure, no paradigm...it just IS. It's the ability to allow yourself the freedom to live and be as you are. When you feel completely secure and confident in yourself, feeling unconditionally loved you emit that same comfort, safety and love towards others. This is an invaluable gift. Be courageous this month and share the love that you have for others, your fellow human being, your animals and for your life. Simply Be and exude Love...it's easy. It's why you were born.
This month's tip reminds you how important it is to take stock of what you're grateful for in life. It's a time to reflect on how you've been living your life this past year. It's a time to reflect on what you may need to let go of, what you may need to incorporate, and how you're going to move forward as you round out the end of 2013. Ask yourself: What do I want to create? What am I grateful for? What do I need to release in order to move forward? Take a few moments to sit and reflect on these questions. Write down your answers...they may surprise you.
Everyone has purpose in life. Simply, waking up in the morning and enjoying your cup of coffee is a way of thanking God that you're alive and Be-ing your purpose. It's the simple day to day things that make life worth while. Gratitude is the key for continuing to receive more blessings and more abundance into your life.
As we celebrate and give thanks this month, let's celebrate and give thanks for our ability to speak. We can share our gratitude with our words, with our arms with hugs, with our presence, with gifts...there are so many ways to give thanks and appreciation. Even though we're blessed to share our words it's equally as important to remember how important silence is. When we're conversing with another we can become consumed with our own ideas and desire to share them - even if the other person is still speaking. Some will try to hurry the other person to finish talking so they can interject their own idea about the topic at hand. Well-timed silence is essential during these times. The next time you find yourself hurrying someone along as they're speaking, stop and allow the other person to speak and share their thoughts. Be patient. Give them time. Truly listen to what they're saying and how they're saying it. This will help you tune into the entire message...how they feel about what they're saying, what they think about it, and if they want feedback, or if they just need a sacred space with a friend to just vent.
Allowing someone else the gift of your time, your presence, the ability to share their thoughts with speech is a wonderful gift you can to give another. Many people simply want to be heard. When you listen to someone you're actually honoring that person for who they are in that very moment. AND, you might actually learn something that you didn't know before about them or the subject they're talking about. Now that's both powerful AND generous.
Another time to practice well-timed silence is when you're conversing with someone and find yourself becoming emotionally charged. Most of us know too well that ill-spoken words can do great harm and have lasting effects. The adage, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" is simply not true. We know that the damage from words can do serious harm and can sometimes take a lifetime to heal from (just look at how many folks are in talk therapy). Think of this the next time you're about to say something when you're upset, angry or frustrated: harmful words harm the heart. If you need a visual: harmful words = damaged heart. When you've damaged another's heart with damaging words, unfortunately, you can't take it back. The damage is done. If you want to refrain from hurting hearts, then refrain from speaking hurtful words. Even to yourself.
Give grace to others even if you're upset about what they're saying. This month's mantra reminds us that Silence is Golden.
This past month I've been consistently reminded of how magnificent we humans are. During my morning run a couple of weeks ago I was personally reminded of how amazing the body is. As I was running on the trail I looked down at my legs and literally thought to myself, "Wow, my legs, knees, ankles, feet and muscles are all working together right now to propel me forward." It was such a beautiful feeling to appreciate what my body was doing for ME in that very moment. I had the desire to run right at that very moment and I was. My body didn't resist, my mind didn't resist and I was so grateful that I was doing exactly what I wanted it to do...run.
As I went about my day after feeling gracious and in the days following, I started looking at the people around me recognizing that they're all such magnificent spirits using their bodies as vehicles to move about the world. How awesome is that? We're all inhabiting physical forms so we can express ourselves exactly how WE want to with it. It's extraordinary. We use our voices to say whatever we want. we use our brains to think, we move our arms where we want, our legs, and we use our eyes to look at whatever we want - that's TRUE freedom. We don't realize how free we are until we start to examine what our bodies do for us. We can gain weight, or we can lose it. We can get up, we can move, we can strengthen it, or we can sit around and let it languish. We can express our thoughts, or not. We can share our I love you's or not. We have the power to do whatever we want with ourselves. Just think about that for a moment...Take the time today, tomorrow, this year to truly appreciate your vehicle for spiritual expression - your physical body. It's such an awesome concept to ponder and appreciate. I think you'll be just as awestruck as I was during my run a couple of weeks ago.
And above all else as we give thanks this month, remember we were born to ENJOY life, not suffer it. Just about every spirit who comes through for a client delivers pretty much the same message: enjoy life. Enjoy Life. Suffering is an old paradigm that's outmoded and outdated. We've chosen to incarnate during these times to acknowledge, recognize, let go, and move forward. If you're not moving forward in your life, think about the ways that you can. It can be as simple as forgiving someone from your past; or forgiving yourself for something you did in the past. Life doesn't want you to harbor old resentments and hurts. Life wants to be LIVED and lived NOW. Like the adage says: Life is a Present, so live IN the Present. May you know that just by breathing you're already blessed.
Trust is such an important component to not only developing your intuition, but for living life in general. It's so important to trust ourselves, the world around us, our loved ones, and life. It's important to learn how to trust because it frees us up to live life to its fullest and most complete and most joyous. When we're operating from a place of distrust we're more suspicious, we're more fearful and we're actually losing life. This week I'd like to share with you a few mantras to help you foster more a more trusting spirit in your life. I strongly believe than when we operate from a trusting spirit we trust ourselves and our own judgments and really do live a happier, more loving and joy-filled life. I invite you to remember the following mantra (print it out and stick it on your bathroom mirror, post it in your car, at your desk, wherever is necessary for you to remember it).
I trust the World.
I trust Myself.
I trust Life.
I simply Trust...
Intuition is such a wonderful gift that Divine Consciousness has bestowed to everyone. It's a special gift that gives you the opportunity and the ability to tune into the energy of the world to understand it. Because it's outside of the five primary senses many of have to sit in meditation or silence to listen to the whispers of their heart. Many remember having easy access to their intuition as a child and then something, somewhere along their development happened when they either shut it down, or simply forgot to stay in touch with it. You were born with this gift and you still have it in you. The spiritual gifts that you were born with cannot ever be taken away from you. You just may have to be a bit more proactive about reconnecting with them now. In order to access it "at will" you'll have to practice connecting with them and using them. This will allow you to access them whenever you want.
To begin working with your "clair" abilities - whether it's hearing, seeing, knowing or sensing the intuitive information that you seek you'll want to practice. Some techniques for strengthening your intuition are:
1. Write down a question you have.
2. Find a quiet place to just BE, either inside or outside.
3. Listen to some relaxing music as sound therapy helps your physical body relax.
4. Close your eyes.
5. Focus on your crown chakra (your divine connection). One way to open your crown chakra is to imagine a large golden sphere about 3 feet above the top of your head. This sphere connects to the Divine Consciousness of Love and God.
6. Next, focus on your base chakra, or first chakra, imagining roots coming from your base chakra and out the bottoms of your feet that connect with the center of the Earth.
7. Connecting with Spirit through your crown chakra and connecting with the Earth with your base chakra will help you remain simultaneously connected with the Spirit realm and the Earth realm keeping you in balance and harmony with both. In order to practice your intuitive skills you have to be balanced - grounded on this plane, and connected with the spirit realm.
8. After you feel completely connected to both the spirit realm and Earth sit in silence for at least 15 minutes. During this process your mind is going to race and you will become distracted, especially if you're not used to practicing centering yourself: you'll think about all of the things you seemingly "have" to do. But, seriously, what better priority do you have than to strengthen your own connection with yourself and the Divinity of the world around you, and your own intuition?
9. Next, ask your question....wait....and see what answer you receive. Spirit communicates in symbolic language that only you understand. Spirit speaks YOUR language. So if you're a musician, you'll receive songs; if you're visual you'll receive pictures; if you're literal you'll receive words. Spirit loves using symbols because symbols communicate so much more than just words. Watch for a symbol - it can be anything - animals, plants, people, celebrities, shapes, etc. Communicating with Spirit is limitless.
If you think you'll forget what you see, hear, or experience, then keep a pencil and paper handy so you can jot down any intuitive messages or symbols you receive. While still remaining in "silent mode," and after receiving your message, keep your eyes closed for a few more minutes. This will help you become accustomed to the vibration of the energy you've just connected with so that you'll remember what it feels like the next time. Finally, open your eyes. Look around you, take a deep connecting breath and move forward with your day or evening.
During meditation a few years ago, spirit shared with me the term "Intuitive Muscle" to simplify the explanation of why intuition is important and how you can strengthen it. Since then the term Intuitive Muscle is referred to by many intuitives (which is how the divine wisdom of spirit works - remember information from spirit is for all of us). This term takes out the esoteric "out there" definition of intuition and makes it more concrete and accessible. Since everyone understands muscle building when it comes to their biceps, legs, stomach, etc. the concept of intuition muscle building is similar. Intuition muscle building requires the same interest and discipline that every other muscle in your body requires. EVERYONE has this ability, all you need to do is start practicing and use it.
One of the best ways to strengthen your Intuitive Muscle is to take quiet or meditative walks for about fifteen minutes a day. During your walking meditation look around you: look at the trees, listen to the birds, look at the sky...simply look at the world around you. This will help you get into the flow of nature and the Natural Order of Life. As you practice walking meditation ask Divine Consciousness a question and explore listening for an answer with your intuition. this will help you build and strengthen your Intuitive Muscle. As you observe your surroundings during your walking meditation you'll find that when you least expect it, you'll be given an answer from the Universe. The answer will most likely be simple and without a lot of fanfare. When this happens trust what you receive, I think you'll find it's the answer you've been waiting for.
Another way to develop your Intuitive Muscle is ask Divine Consciousness a question as you begin your day. Then forget you asked the question. Go about your day listening to music, washing the dishes, running errands, and just taking care of what you need to take care of for the day. As you go about your day you'll notice that the answer to your question will suddenly "pop" into your head. This is often times called an "AH-HA" moment. The answer will pertain to your earlier question and you'll find yourself wondering where the answer came from. It came from your intuition! The Spirit realm.
There are so many ways to strengthen your Intuitive Muscle. Whichever method you choose the best advice is to work out your Intuitive Muscle is to use it every day..YES, every day. Don't judge or try to control the information that you'll be receiving with your intuition, just clear your mind and see what comes. It's really simple once you get the hang of it. I promise.
As we celebrate Dia Los Muertos and All Hallow's Eve, better known as Halloween, we're reminded of the spirit world. The world of the spirit is usually considered "unseen" unless you're able to discern it with your intuitive abilities.
This month I invite you to refine your intuitive abilities by practicing your clairsentience. Everyone is born with clairsentience. Clairsentience or "clear-feeling" is the ability to sense the energy around you with your emotions, feelings and sensations. Clairsentience allows you to sense the spirit world. Remember, spirit energy is just another aspect of energy. For example, have you ever walked into a room and felt uneasy? It was your clairsentience alerting you to an energetic essence. Have you ever had a conversation withs someone and then all of a sudden felt uncomfortable? This too is your clairsentience in action. The feelings you felt were aspects of your clairsentience - you felt the energy of the person's words, their tone and the overall vibes associated with the conversation.
Pay attention to your "clear-feeling" abilities and notice the subtleties of your feelings and focus on interpreting them as accurately as you can. Take particular notice of when your feelings shift within you. Tuning into your feelings when you're interacting with others will help you strengthen your clairsentience. The more you practice, the better mastery you'll have with your gift of clairsentience and your ability to interpret the unseen world of energy and spirit around you.
So often we go through life speeding through it, marking off our To Do List then before we've realized it, we haven't taken time to enjoy the day, the week, the month. This month I want to encourage you to take time each day to reflect on what you've done. It's YOUR LIFE, you should never be too busy to reflect on it.
Part of enjoying life is enjoying the time we spend creating it and enjoying reflecting on the experiences we've had. Before retiring to bed, reflect on your emotions from the day and the shared moments you had with others. Tune into your body and learn what kind of a day it had. Tune into your spiritual self to see how it's doing. Does it need more prayer? Does it need more quiet time? Does it need more fun? Our spiritual development is just as important as nurturing our bodies, our emotions, and our relationships.
One of the best parts of our spiritual development is that it nurtures our relationship with our soul and our relationship with God. We were all created by a gorgeous Divine energy, therefore, we all have that same gorgeous Divine energy within us. Reflect on this notion this month and I KNOW that your life will experience beautiful changes.
This is such a wonderful time of year - you can still enjoy the summer warmth while getting back into the swing of things as school resumes. Autumn is such a gorgeous time of year with so much wisdom to share with us. The changing season brings changing hues inspiring us to appreciate the subtle changes in life. Examine the beauty that you've created in your life knowing that YOU created it and that there is more to come. This is how powerful you are!
Just as the leaves change color from green to orange to red to yellow and then eventually fall...your life follows the same course. Circumstances are always changing in life that require you to allow that which no longer serves you to fall away to allow the space for what is soon to be coming. This is the cycle of life and the only constant in life - regeneration.
You can always count on the continuity of life. Just as the leaf changes color and falls off of the branch, a new leaf always grows back the following spring. The same continuity lies within you...your cells change, your emotions change, your circumstances change, and your life changes - yet you're still the same soul.
As you move into this autumn season be sure to take the time to notice all of the wonder and colorful beauty around you. Trust that more beauty is on its way. Remember, you're already blessed.
